FLORENCE — A Florence man was arrested after a chase where he allegedly rammed a Lauderdale County sheriff’s deputy’s car.

William Larry Irons, 52, faces multiple drug, firearms and vehicle charges in the incident. His bond was set at $63,200.
According to the sheriff’s office, while on patrol, Deputy Adam Meeks attempted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Irons in the area of County Road 14 and 81.
Irons refused to stop and led deputies on a 20-minute pursuit before leaving the roadway off County Road 186 and driving into a wooded area.

Once off-road, Irons reversed his vehicle and rammed the deputy’s patrol car. After a short foot pursuit, during which Irons was tased, he was taken into custody. A firearm and narcotics were discovered in the vehicle.
