AJGA tournament underway at Canebrake

ATHENS — The third annual American Junior Golf Association tournament teed off this morning at the Canebrake Golf Club in Athens.

The field consists of 78 players representing Canada, China, Nigeria and the United States competing in a 54-hole stroke-play tournament which concludes Sunday.

The players include 17 from Alabama and 10 ranked in the Top-100 of the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

Players to watch include Maye Huang of Katy, Texas; Jon Ed Steed of Enterprise; Claire Henson of Henderson, Tenn.; Ethan Paschal of Fayetteville, N.C.; and Jackson Mitchell of Athens, who won the 77th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship.
