Alabama A&M sweeps SWAC weekly men’s basketball honors

BIRMINGHAM — The Alabama A&M University men’s basketball team swept the weekly Southwestern Athletic Conference honors, the conference announced Wednesday.

Kintavious Dozier, who recently surpassed the 1,000-point plateau, was named the SWAC’s Player of the Week; Sami Pissis earned Impact Player of the Week honors; and Koron Davis was chosen the SWAC Newcomer of the Week.

Dozier helped Alabama A&M to a perfect week. He averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals in victories over Arkansas Baptist and North Alabama. Against North Alabama, he scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as the Bulldogs defeated the Lions, 68-60.

Pissis posted 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists, while shooting 50.0 percent (10-of-20) in victories over Arkansas Baptist and North Alabama. He went 8-of-10 shooting, finishing with 20 points, six boards, three assists, one steal and one block against Arkansas Baptist.

Davis averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 boards as Alabama A&M picked up wins over Arkansas Baptist and North Alabama. He shot 42.1 percent from the floor and 93.3 percent from the foul line. Against North Alabama, Davis scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half.
