A&M’s Rutledge named to Black College Nines Large School Division Elite second team

NORMAL — Alabama A&M University outfielder Trey Rutledge has been selected to the Black College Nines Large School Division Elite second team.

A redshirt junior, Rutledge leads the country in on-base percentage (.573) and is fifth in stolen bases per game, led the Bulldogs in batting, with a .397 average. He registered 40 hits, including seven doubles, three triples and one home run.

The Irondale native was 34-of-37 in stolen bases, drawing 37 walks and scored 56 times. He was selected to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Postseason Second Team.

Selections were made based upon statistical information, mid-season reports including research provided by Black College Nines, coaching staffs and sports information directors. Player, pitcher, freshman and coach of the year awards were voted upon by Black College Nines and members of the national media.
