HUNTSVILLE — How about a pet as a Valentine’s Day present? That’s the suggestion from Huntsville Animal Services. While love is in the air, the organization is staging a Meet your Match event.

Beginning Monday, Animal Services will regularly spotlight adoptable animals with their personal “love-me” profile ads on the shelter’s Facebook page. Fees on most adult animals are waived through the end of the month to encourage adoptions.

“Meet Your Match is a great way for members of our community who have loving homes to add loving companions to their lives,” Animal Services Interim Director Virgie Graham said in a news release. “From small cats to big dogs, these animals have plenty of love to give.”

For those unable to adopt immediately, there are fostering options and sleepovers.

Each adoptable pet is spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated before leaving the shelter. Pets are also treated with a three-month application of flea and tick preventative. Animals come with a city license and free bag of pet food while supplies last. Click here to see photos, ages and descriptions of available animals.

Animal Services is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. For information, call 256-883-3782, visit HuntsvilleAL.gov/Animal or on Facebook.
