Annual Ground Dog Day forecasts fun while promoting adoptions, pet food pantry

HUNTSVILLE – Mayor Tommy Battle and District 4 City Councilmember Bill Kling will join Cosmo, Huntsville’s furry forecaster, as he predicts either an early spring or six more weeks of winter at the fourth annual Ground Dog Day today at 10 a.m. at Huntsville Animal Services.

The event will spotlight pet adoptions, fostering and volunteering while raising awareness about the shelter’s new pet food pantry and upcoming Valentine’s week promotions.

Huntsville Animal Services, 4950 Triana Blvd., will host a Kisses & Kibble drive-thru pet food pantry on Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon, providing one free bag of pet food per household.

Additionally, adoption fees for most adult pets will be reduced to $14 from Feb. 10-15.
