Arctic blast to bring single digit temperatures to valley
HUNTSVILLE — North Alabama will feel more like the North Pole as an Arctic cold front passes across the area late Saturday with temperatures remaining below freezing into the middle of next week.
According to the National Weather Service Huntsville office, the bitterly cold air filters in Sunday night, with lows by Monday morning ranging from the single digits to the lower teens. Wind chill values will drop to as low as minus-7 degrees.
High temperatures Sunday will struggle into the lower 30s while highs Monday and Tuesday should only rise into the 20s, with lows in the teens. The unseasonably cold conditions should continue into Thursday.
Before the front arrives, the high temperatures today and Saturday will be in the mid- to upper 50s and even 60 degrees today in the Shoals.
A storm system will bring medium to high (50-90%) chances of rain tonight into Saturday. There is only a 20% chance of precipitation ending as a mix of rain and snow Saturday night mainly in southern middle Tennessee and North Alabama. No accumulation is expected.
