ATLANTA — DC Blox is expanding its presence in Huntsville with the plans for another data center, the company announced.

The provider of digital infrastructure across the Southeast, DC Blox said it is adding a hyperscale edge node data center in the Rocket City, as well as Montgomery; North Augusta, S.C.; and Conyers, Ga.

Hyperscale data centers often support big data-producing companies such as Facebook, which has a data center in Huntsville. The new DC Blox center in Huntsville will be designed to provide 5 MW of power dedicated to the hyperscale client.

The state-of-the-art Huntsville data center is on Diamond Drive in Cummings Research Park. There, it provides a secure Tier III colocation facility equipped with high-speed connectivity to Internet Exchanges, other DC BLOX data centers, and public cloud providers, the company said.

Designed and constructed to service executive branch agencies, defense contractors and any organization that handles, possesses, shares, and receives Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), the Huntsville facility has the ability to up-scope to higher levels of information classification.

The Huntsville location is also a disaster recovery location for enterprises in Nashville, Birmingham, Greenville, S.C., and DC Blox’s Chattanooga data center.
