Driving the message home: Police Citizens Advisory Council forum to focus on Hands-Free Ordinance
HUNTSVILLE — With hundreds of citations and written warnings issued to motorists, the Huntsville Police Department is driving the message home after the first year of the city’s hands-free ordinance.
The ordinance, which prohibits drivers from holding an electronic device, took effect in January 2024. Following a six-month education period, the Huntsville Police Department began enforcing the ordinance last July.
The public is invited to join the Huntsville Police Citizens Advisory Council and members of the police department Tuesday for a community forum on the ordinance.
