HUNTSVILLE – The City of Huntsville Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring an event to help families celebrate dear ol’ dad a week before Father’s Day. He might need the time to recover his pride or marinate in shining glory.

The Day for Dads + Car Show is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at S.R. Butler Green at Campus No. 805. The highlight of the free event will be the car show, which have a range of classic and custom vehicles displayed.

But that’s not all with three events that are sure to rally the whole clan if dad signs up. Competitions include: Rocket City Dad sports for patriarchs wishing to show off skills, Beard N’ Stache for those proud of their facial hair, and finally something called Dad Bods.

“This is a fantastic way to celebrate fathers in our community,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “It’s also an opportunity for our residents to enjoy a day of free family fun.”

The event features activities and competitions designed to entertain and engage even the sternest dads. The event will host exhibitors and provide giveaways throughout the day and music, prizes and food trucks will be on site providing concessions for purchase.
