Find ‘paws of gold’ at Huntsville Animal Services

HUNTSVILLE – March just might be the month to find your lucky charm and take home a new friend from Huntsville Animal Services.

In honor of the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday, the shelter is waiving fees on most adult pets this month in the hopes of uniting you with your “paws” of gold at the end of the rainbow. Some exceptions apply.

With the shelter at a critical capacity level, Animal Services Director Dr. Karen Sheppard said it’s the perfect time to browse the kennels. She said there are plenty of great animals available for adoption that would make others green with envy.

“We’re simply running out of room to take in these loving pets that desperately need a home,” Sheppard said. “Help us clear the shelter through adoption or our sleepover program, which allows you to foster an animal for a shorter period of time and improves its chances of being adopted.”

Each pet is spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter. All adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped and come with a City license and free bag of pet food. Click here to see photos, ages and descriptions of available animals.

Animal Services is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 256-883-3782, visit HuntsvilleAL.gov/Animal or visit them on Facebook.
