First Fridays Florence (Facebook, 256 Today)

FLORENCE – Presented by Bank Independent, First Fridays gets underway this weekend in one of North Alabama’s prettiest downtowns with art, music, shopping and entertainment.

The streets of historic Downtown Florence will be full of vendors including jewelry makers, woodcrafters, and clothing designers from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

Michael Forkuo and other special guests will be featured on the Big River Broadcasting Main Stage in Mobile Plaza while the Cadillacs will be playing at the intersection of Court and Tuscaloosa streets.

Restaurants and shops in Downtown Florence will be open. Also, the streets are family friendly and pets are welcome on a leash.

256 Today Insider Tips

  • Stop for photos in Wilson Park, a block-wide city park with a gorgeous water fountain in the middle and shaded, paved walkways.
  • Browse the iconic clothing and accessories at Billy Reid on Court Street. The award-winning designer’s flagship store calls Florence home.
  • If you’re in need of a snack, seek out Millie’s booth for mouth-watering baked goods.  Everything she makes is perfection but if you have yet to try Millie’s Famous Cornbread Cake, your life is not complete.

Parking is available away from Court Street and in the public parking garage on Tennessee Street.  Court Street and the surrounding access roads will close at 4:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission for First Fridays.
