GUNTERSVILLE — And the winner is …

Well, if you’re waiting for the results of the Guntersville mayoral election, it’s going to be another few weeks.

“I have to declare that there will be a runoff Sept. 23,” City Clerk Betty Jones said after today’s special called meeting to count provisional ballots.

After Tuesday’s balloting, Mayor Leigh Dollar held a one vote lead (1,062-1,061) over Jeff McLaughlin.

Then, after today’s count of seven provisional ballots at the special called meeting, the race was deadlocked 1,065-1,065 – three of the ballots went to to Dollar, and four went to McLaughlin.

So, they get to do it all over again on Sept. 23.
