HUNTSVILLE — Today may be one of those “dog days” in August, if the latest forecast holds.

According to the National Weather Service Huntsville office, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for Lincoln, Madison, Morgan and Cullman counties from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

“Heat indices will range from 98 to 109 degrees for all but the higher terrain of northeast Alabama/southern Tennessee,” the office said.

The weather service also said storms are likely to move into the area from the northwest this afternoon.

“Thunderstorms are expected to develop across the Tennessee Valley this afternoon, but
should spread southeastward and out of the region within a couple hours of sunset this evening,” the office said. “Additional rounds of storms are expected during the day Saturday and again early Sunday, but precise timing remains uncertain.”
