Hundreds in procession, along interstate pay tribute to fallen HPD officer

HUNTSVILLE — Hundreds of law enforcement officers and first responders from across the state lined the 150-mile procession Monday to pay their final respects to a Huntsville police officer killed in the line of duty last week.

The funeral procession escorted Huntsville Police Officer Garrett Crumby from Huntsville to Tuscaloosa, where he was laid to rest. Crumby died after he and his partner were shot when responding to a 911 call. His partner, Officer Albert Morin, was recentlu taken off a ventilator. He has been in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital since the shooting .

Pushing through the cold and rainy conditions, dozens of agencies turned out in a true show of support for the statewide law enforcement community.

Gov. Kay Ivey ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Officer Crumby. “As he is laid to rest (Monday), we honor him and pray for his family,” she said.
