HUNTSVILLE — For those finding a place to park while attending events at The Orion Amphitheater or the MidCity District, help is on the way,

The city plans a parking deck across Amphitheater Drive from The Orion and across Corporate Drive from a city-owned parking lot. The facility could be complete by early 2028, officials said.

At its meeting last week, the City Council last week approved a $129,750 engineering services contract with Amiri Engineering for geotechnical work, construction materials testing and ADEM reporting, as well as a $985,061 design services agreement with Chapman Sisson Architects for the deck’s architectural design.

The city will own and operate the new facility, which is planned as a 4-story precast structure with 923 parking spaces.

Design is expected to take approximately nine months, according to city officials, and the project expected to bid in late 2026. The construction timeline is 12–14 months, putting the tentative completion date in late 2027 or early 2028.

The city said the new garage will increase parking capacity for concerts and events at The Orion, improve traffic flow, and support continued development in the area.
