Huntsville Animal Services plans a fur-ightfully good time

HUNTSVILLE – Celebrate a fur-ightfully fun month with Huntsville Animal Services with two community events and waived adoption fees on most adult pets.

The fun starts Saturday with a Pawsitive Outreach Community Event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tractor Supply on North Memorial Parkway. The event is designed to support pet owners and encourage responsible pet ownership while having fun.

Animal Services staff will hand out spay/neuter vouchers, goody “wag” bags and free dog and cat food while supplies last. Shaved ice from Kona Ice will be available for purchase.

“Our goal is to connect with the community and offer support to those who may need assistance in caring for their pets,” said Virgie Graham, interim director of Huntsville Animal Services. “We encourage everyone to stop by and take advantage of giveaways while enjoying some great fellowship.”

Animal Services is also offering fee-waived adoptions on most adult pets preceding Animal Services’ third annual Howl-o-Ween Trunk or Treat, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Huntsville Animal Services, 4950 Triana Blvd.

Families and children can enjoy trick-or-treating and opportunities to meet some of the adorable pets available for adoption.

Before leaving the shelter, each pet is spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. They are also treated with a three-month application of flea and tick preventative. Animals come with a City license and a free bag of pet food while supplies last.

A full list of available pets can be found here.

Animal Services is open Monday and Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
