HUNTSVILLE — They’ll be playing football Friday night under the lights at Joe Davis Stadium.

However, this isn’t the American version of football.

Huntsville City FC will take on Crown Legacy FC in a salute to first responders Friday night on Wicks Family Field. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

And the first responders may be bringing their own light show with police vehicles, fire trucks and ambulances on display with their bells, whistles and, of course, sirens and flashing lights.

The club is also recognizing and thanking law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, and first responders by offering $10 discount tickets found here.

The Boys in Blue carry a 5-3-4 record – good for third place in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference standings – into Friday’s clash with Crown Legacy FC.

HCFC is coming off last week’s 1-0 road win over Atlanta United II. Powered by Christian Koffi’s seventh goal of the season, tied for sixth in the league – the club snapped its two-game losing streak.

In last week’s win, Koffi scored on a penalty kick just in stoppage time just before halftime, giving Huntsville momentum going into the break with a lead.

HCFC is also hosting a “5-4-3-2-1 Countdown to Kickoff” promotion of discounts on food, beverages and tickets:

  • $5 tickets,
  • $4 soft drinks,
  • $3 hot dogs,
  • 2 for 1 tickets.

The countdown is underway until the end of August.
