Huntsville City midfielder Bolaños recognized by league

HUNTSVILLE – Two straight wins after starting the season winless in 10 attempts will garner attention, and MLS NEXT Pro took notice of one Huntsville City Football Club midfielder in particular.

Jony Bolaños has been named MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 13 for his performance in HCFC’s 4-2 win last Saturday over Crown Legacy FC.

Bolaños made three goal contributions in Huntsville’s victory at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. In the first half, the 25-year-old assisted on both of Forster Ajago’s goals, giving him four assists in his last two games and a team-leading five assists on the season.

The midfielder scored a goal of his own in the second half, receiving an Ollie Wright pass and sneaking the ball past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner to give Huntsville the lead in the 74th minute. Watch his goal here.

Bolaños is the third Huntsville player to win MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek honors, joining former Boys in Blue Kemy Amiche and Azaad Liadi.

Bolaños and Huntsville City FC return to action Sunday at 6 p.m. with a home match against Chicago Fire II. Tickets can be purchased here.
