HUNTSVILLE — A Huntsville man wanted in connection with a September homicide was taken into custody in Milwaukee after a coordinated effort between the Huntsville Police Department and U.S. Marshals, the Huntsville Police Department announced in a news release.
According to the release, HPD obtained warrants for Tyshaun Dominique Darnell Hampton of Huntsville, on Sept. 17, for murder and first-degree assault in connection with a Sept. 16 shooting on Binford Drive that left 25-year-old Caleb Troy Martin of Decatur and another man wounded.
After the warrants were issued, HPD requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. The task force worked with the U.S. Marshals Eastern Wisconsin Violent Offender Task Force, which located Hampton in Milwaukee.
Hampton, 23, was apprehended without incident and remains in Wisconsin awaiting extradition to Huntsville.
HPD’s Major Crimes Unit determined that Martin and the second victim were involved in an altercation when Hampton intervened.
According to the news release, Martin then attempted to fight Hampton, who then pulled a firearm and shot him. The same round struck the second victim.
HPD said no further information was available and appreciates the U.S. Marshals Service and partner agencies for their collaboration throughout the investigation.
