Huntsville Hospital honors its Nurses of the Year

HUNTSVILLE — One of the highlights of National Nurses Week in May was announcing the Nurse of the Year from Huntsville Hospital, Madison Hospital and Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.

With more than 3,000 nurses serving Huntsville Hospital Health System in Madison County, it’s tough to choose just one per campus.

Huntsville Hospital

Tram Bui, RN
Respiratory Care Unit
When the pandemic reached the Rocket City in March 2020, Bui didn’t hesitate. A registered nurse in Huntsville Hospital’s Respiratory Care Unit, she volunteered to put on protective gear and help care for patients sickened by what was still a mysterious and largely unknown virus. Her selfless attitude and putting other people first is what makes Bui an outstanding caregiver and Huntsville Hospital’s Nurse of the Year.

Madison Hospital

Amanda Ryan, RN
Progressive Care Unit
“Meticulous. Compassionate. Meets any challenge head on and never complains.” That’s just a small sampling of what patients, families and co-workers say about Ryan. Since joining Madison Hospital in 2017, she has worked as a health care assistant, telemetry technician, licensed practical nurse and now registered nurse in the Progressive Care Unit. Ryan now has a new title: Madison Hospital’s 2022 Nurse of the Year.

Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children

Rebecca Hinson, RN
Mother Baby Unit
Hinson grew up wanting to be a teacher like her mom. But after seeing a friend from church struggle with a complicated pregnancy, she felt called to become a Mother Baby nurse instead. That decision has benefitted hundreds of first-time parents who now get to enjoy her special brand of care and encouragement. For that, Hinson is the Nurse of the Year for Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.
