Huntsville Madison County Railroad Authority says cleanup from train derailment on schedule

HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Madison County Railroad Authority said cleanup of the Aldridge Creek Bridge site is proceeding on schedule.

HMCRA expects the cleanup should be complete by the end of this week or early next week, according to a news release.

Last week, the trestle bridge across Aldridge Creek during a train crossing; two railcars derailed and fell into the creek. No one was injured.

The railcars have been removed from the creek and the trestle debris will be removed from the creek and the Aldridge Creek Greenway, the authority said.

HMCRA plans to replace the Aldridge Creek Bridge as part of a $1 million Consolidated Rail and Safety Improvements Grant awarded by the Federal Railroad Administration in 2023.
