HUNTSVILLE – Parents or guardians needing to shop but can’t find a babysitter, relax.

The Huntsville Parks & Recreation Department is coming to the rescue with Drop and Shop. Or, there’s Parents Night Out for residents just looking to enjoy a date.

The department will host those events Tuesday (Drop & Shop) and Friday (Parents Night Out). Parks & Recreation will provide trained staff in a safe environment. Space is limited, so parents and guardians should sign up now.

“We realize it’s a busy and stressful time of year for parents and guardians, so this is a great way for adults to have some time to either finish last-minute Christmas shopping or just catch their breath,” James Gossett, Parks and Recreation director, said.

Parents Night Out is at Fern Bell Recreation Center from 5-8 p.m. The deadline to register is Tuesday. Visit the Huntsville Parks & Recreation Facebook page and click the “events” link for information on how to sign up.

Drop & Shop is Tuesday from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Cinemark movie theater at Bridge Street. The event is open to the first 50 children ages 6-12. Huntsville Parks & Recreation will provide an age-appropriate movie and an evening of fun games. At least one parent or guardian must live within the City of Huntsville to participate.
