HUNTSVILLE – Want to weigh in on the future of community development and affordable housing in Huntsville? Join the city for three community input sessions this week.
The city’s Community Development Department will hold a series of public forums to solicit input from residents on community priorities, affordable housing needs and fair housing issues for inclusion in a Five-Year Consolidated Plan and Fair Housing Study.
The public input events are:
- Tuesday, 6 p.m., Seminole Service Center, 212 Seminole Drive
- Wednesday, 1 p.m., Downtown Public Library, 915 Monroe Street
- Wednesday, 6 p.m., Showers Recreation Center, 4600 Blue Spring Road
Huntsville is developing a five-year plan that identifies community development and affordable housing needs and sets priorities for investment of federal grant funds to address them. A second analysis of barriers to fair housing is also being conducted.
“This is a great way for the public’s input to be directly incorporated into the city’s plans for the next five years,” City Community Development Manager Scott Erwin said. “We welcome all members of the public to join us for one of these public meetings.”
