Huntsville Utilities sets rolling lane closures on I-565 for light installation

HUNTSVILLE — Things will soon be a lot brighter along I-565 in Madison County.

But, for the time being, a project to convert lights will cause traffic disruptions this week from Exit 21 (U.S. 72 exit on Chapman Mountain) to Exit 9 (Wall Triana Highway/Madison Boulevard exit).

Starting at 8 o’clock tonight, contractors working for Huntsville Utilities will initiate rolling lane closures on the inside, westbound lane of I-565 while they convert the high-pressure sodium lights to LEDs. The work will end at 5 a.m. daily through Friday.

Motorists are asked to avoid this area if possible or, if traveling through the area, do so with extreme caution as workers will be present.

If alternate routes are not available, be prepared for shifting traffic patterns and possible delays.
