ATHENS – The 2022 Athens-Limestone County Christmas Parade marches through the streets of Athens this evening but, if you can’t make it, Jerome and Tiffany Malone are hosting a livestream of the event.

The parade is dedicated this year to the late Betty Christopher, who died in October. She oversaw and organized the parade for nearly two decades.
The route begins at Athens Middle School, heads west on Hobbs Street and then south on Jefferson Street. From there, it heads east on Market Street, south on Marion Street, and west on Washington Street before heading south on Jefferson Street and ending at the Hometown Shopping Center.
There are nearly 170 entries this year, including seven high school marching bands, 11 Miss Merry Christmas representatives, and, Santa Claus.
The parade committee includes the Limestone County Commission, City of Athens, Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce, Limestone County Economic Development Association, Athens Main Street, and Athens Rotary Club.
