MADISON – After more than 20 years working in law enforcement, first-time franchise owner Michael Gorden is seeing his lifelong dream of owning a sub shop come true.

He opened the first of three Jon Smith Subs coming to Alabama at a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week. Gordon has signed on with Jon Smith Subs as a multi-unit developer for the franchise.

The shop is in the Arbor Crossings Shopping Center near James Clemens High School where Gorden is a sponsor for the football and marching band programs.

Gorden said the community deserves a restaurant that provides fresh, made-to-order subs.

“I know what it takes to provide an excellent customer experience while creating a fun, fast-paced environment for employees,” said Gorden. “I’m excited to share the Jon Smith Subs concept with the local community – the great people of Madison are in need of a go-to place for fresh, satisfying food, and we’re proud to bring just that.”

For those just getting their first taste of Jon Smith’s giant, overstuffed, grilled and marinated deli subs, the Florida-based franchise is famous for its award-winning “Steak Bomb”, made-to-order crispy fries and warm, fresh-baked cookies.

The fan-favorite comes with a heaping portion of marinated sirloin steak, grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, and provolone cheese.

Prepared in-house with fresh, locally sourced produce and bread baked on-site daily, Jon Smith Subs butchers its meats and chicken in-house and marinates it in a secret recipe to get a flavor unique only to Jon Smith Subs.

Jon Smith Subs also creates subs that offer something to please every palette, including a Cuban, Reuben, hot pastrami and “The Gator.”

Available for dine-in and takeout, the Madison Jon Smith Subs serves lunch and dinner from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday.
