Lighting a path: Torch taps Hill to lead market expansion

HUNTSVILLE – Torch Technologies, one of the nation’s leading defense contractors headquartered in Huntsville, has appointed Rita Hill as director of supplier outreach.

According to a news release, she will lead small business outreach, subcontractor assessments, partnering strategies, and capture for long-lead strategic business opportunities. 

Hill will also be responsible for business development and capture activities in support of strategic growth initiatives, including expanding Torch’s presence in the Dayton market.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rita to the Torch team,” Torch Technologies President Brad Walker said. “Rita is a well-known, trusted name in the defense industry. She will play a key role in growing the Torch presence in DoD National Intelligence Center markets, like Dayton, and expanding our core capabilities into new markets.” 

Hill brings over 30 years experience in systems engineering, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems, program management and executive leadership in the defense industry. 

She joined Torch from Radiance Technologies where she served as executive vice president for the national security sector.

In this role, she led all aspects of the business operations including profit and loss, strategy, growth, customer relations, employee engagement and program execution.

Prior to Radiance, Hill spent 20 years with Science Applications International Corp., including vice president for advanced analytics.

She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Dayton.​
