The sheriff’s office said Hasson initiated contact last month on social media with what he believed to be a male juvenile. The account was operated by a Limestone County Sheriff’s Office investigator.

During the conversations, Hasson offered cash in exchange for sexual contact with the child and agreed to travel from Hoover to Limestone County to meet in person.
On Saturday, Hasson arrived in Athens for the meeting and was taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said.
He has been charged with:
  • Electronic Solicitation of a Child
  • Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act
  • Human Trafficking, 1st Degree
Hasson is being held in the Limestone County Detention Center, pending an Aniah’s Law hearing at a later date.
“These investigations take time, patience, and dedication. I’m proud of our investigators’ work in making this arrest,” said Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin. “Their commitment to protecting children and holding predators accountable is unwavering.
“We will continue to do everything in our power to stop those who seek to exploit the most vulnerable among us.”
