Local workshop set for statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan

HUNTSVILLE — The Alabama Department of Transportation is holding a public workshop Tuesday about its Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.

The “open house” workshop is 5 to 7 p.m. at the North Region Department of Transportation office in Huntsville, 1525 Perimeter Parkway.

There is no formal presentation and attendees can arrive at any time within the two-hour period. Community members are invited to review information, ask questions, and provide comments on elements of the plan.

According to ALDOT, the plan is to establish a vision for bicycling and walking as modes of transportation in Alabama and to help guide investment in bicycle and pedestrian facilities that maximize limited available funding.
