HUNTSVILLE — The Madison County Water Department has suspended disconnections for non-payment of water service and late payment fees during the ongoing federal government shutdown.

“Madison County understands the significant financial impact of federal operations in this community,” said County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon. “We are committed to all who are involved in the federal missions carried out in this county, and we intend to support them through this challenging time.”

The county will not charge water service late fees and will not perform nonpayment water service disconnects until normal federal government operations resume.

Upon resumption of normal operations, customers may contact the Water Department here to set up a plan to return their account to current status.
