Myrex and Hollingsworth in possible special runoff election for House District 12

CULLMAN — Based on preliminary results, it appears that Cindy Myrex and Clint Hollingsworth are likely to advance to a special runoff election following unofficial results of Tuesday’s voting.

Voters in portions of Cullman County went to the polls Tuesday for the Special Republican Primary in Alabama House District 12 and no candidate received the 50% plus 1 majority of votes.

Unofficially, Myrex received 2,090 votes for 49.81%; Hollingsworth received 1,848 votes (43.24%); Heather Doyle had 150 votes (3.51%); and Don McWhorter received 147 votes (3.44%).

Provisional ballots will be counted July 22, Republican Party officials said. If a special runoff election is needed, it will be Aug. 12.
