MILLINGTON, Tenn. – All hands on deck! The Navy is about to weigh anchor in Huntsville.

In a first for the Rocket City, the Navy is hosting a Navy Week in Huntsville. The dates are April 21-27.

The fourth Navy Week in the Navy’s 2025 outreach season, Huntsville Navy Week will bring 50 to 75 sailors to volunteer in the community and interact with the public, striving to inform, educate and inspire discussions on the Navy’s importance to Huntsville and the nation’s security and prosperity.

Huntsville Navy Week also coincides with the year-long celebration of the Navy’s 250th birthday, during which the Navy will host numerous worldwide leadership outreach events, multilateral exercises and community engagements.

“America is a maritime nation, with 90% of commerce traveling through the seas our Navy has protected for 250 years,” said Cmdr. Julie Holland, Navy Office of Community Outreach director. “As our nation enjoys 250 years of decisive power from the seabed to space, the Navy is excited to celebrate with you by bringing your sailors to the Rocket City.

“During Huntsville Navy Week, you will have opportunities to connect with sailors and see their dedication, strong character and competence firsthand.”

Huntsville Navy Week will include events designed to inform, educate and inspire the Huntsville community:

  • Senior Navy leaders – Meet and hear from senior Navy officials, including those with ties to Huntsville and the surrounding area.

  • Namesake sailors – Interact with Sailors serving aboard the Ohio-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine USS Alabama.
  • U.S. Navy Band Southeast – Enjoy live musical performances, and masterclasses with Navy musicians.
  • Naval History and Heritage Command – Explore the rich connection between Huntsville and the Navy through interactive presentations and educational programs.
  • USS Constitution – Witness demonstrations featuring the Navy’s oldest commissioned ship and its enduring legacy.

  • U.S. Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command – Engage in STEM-focused sessions highlighting oceanographic and atmospheric science.

  • Navy Talent Acquisition Group – Discover opportunities within the Navy through community projects, displays, and career discussions.

Navy Week brings the Navy to regions without a major naval presence, fostering connections and showcasing how the Navy’s mission ensures the security, prosperity and freedom of our nation.

Navy Community Outreach has conducted more than 300 Navy Weeks in 95 U.S. markets since the command’s establishment in 2004.
