DECATUR — Nighttime resurfacing of Beltline Road in Decatur will begin the Sunday night, weather permitting, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Grayson Carter and Son, the contractor on the $3.3 million project, will resurface nearly five miles of the Beltline/Alabama Highway 67 from U.S. 31/Sixth Avenue to Highway 24/Gordon Terry Parkway.

For the next several weeks, motorists should expect lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. A minimum of one lane in each direction will remain open.

In the first phase of the project, the contractor will mill and pave the Beltline from Sixth Avenue to Danville Road only. Once that segment is substantially completed, the contractor will resurface the remaining segment from Danville Road to Gordon Terry Parkway.

ALDOT anticipates completion in early fall.
