WASHINGTON — The Army awarded a $481 million contract to Northrop Grumman Systems in Huntsville, the Department of Defense announced.

The contract was one of two awarded to Huntsville-based companies or where work will be performed in Huntsville.

Leidos was awarded a $48 million contract by the Army for general electronic test station equipment.

For Northrop Grumman, the $481,329,816 hybrid is for updates and improvements to the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System’s software.

Along with Huntsville, work will be performed in McLean, Va.; Linthicum Heights, Md.; and Orlando, with an estimated completion date of Dec. 30, 2029.

Reston, Va.,-based Leidos was awarded a $48,755,451 hybrid contract for equipment, hardware, software, upgrades and spare parts.

Besides Huntsville, work will be performed in Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Kuwait, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2029.

The Army Contracting Command on Redstone Arsenal is the contracting activity for both awards.
