Play ball!! Team Redstone and community leaders to meet in annual softball game

MADISON — On a daily basis, local officials and those on Redstone Arsenal go to bat for each other.

Knowing the importance of being partners, this union has proven to be an economic and social grand slam for everyone.

But, once a year – or at least a couple hours – the two parties are on opposite sides of the field and tonight is one of those times.

Are you ready for some softball?

Tonight is the annual Community Softball Game at Toyota Field between Team Redstone and the North Alabama Rockets, aka the community leaders, featuring Mayors Tommy Battle and Paul Finley, Madison County Commission Chair Mac McCutcheon and school board and civic officials.

And Team Redstone is looking to avenge last year’s defeat – the first-ever win by the Community team.

Admission is free and the first 500 fans get a free hot dog. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and first pitch is 6 p.m.

There’s also a “competition” for the fans. The Grand Slam Spirit Award will be presented to the company or organization with the most people in attendance.
