DECATUR — With the Labor Day holiday out of the way, highway projects will be at the forefront.

Crews will resume resurfacing Alabama Highway 24 in Morgan County on Tuesday, the Alabama Department of Transportation announced.

The $2.7 million project with Grayson Carter and Son Contracting began last week. The project includes milling and paving 5.5 miles of the divided four-lane highway from Beltline Road in Decatur to the Lawrence County line.

Please expect delays due to single-lane closures.

ALDOT anticipates completion in  the fall.

Earlier this summer, Grayson Carter and Son completed a $2.5 million resurfacing of 4.6 miles of Highway 24 in Lawrence County from the county line to County Road 317.

The contractor has nearly completed the $3.3 million resurfacing of nearly five miles of Beltline Road in Decatur. Remaining work items include treatment of the shoulders and installation of permanent striping and pavement markers.
