(HudsonAlpha, 256Today)

HUNTSVILLE — Let us return to those great sounds of yesteryear, when music played a major part of our lives.

“We’re goin’ hoppin’ (hop),“We’re goin’ hoppin’ today.“Where things are poppin’ (pop),“The HudsonAlpha way.“We’re gonna drop in (drop),“On all the projects they have“At the HudsonAlpha Bandstand …”

(With apologies to Barry Manilow and “American Bandstand”)

Dr. Neil Lamb, president of HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, will “emcee” a special musical presentation update next month on HudsonAlpha’s research, including breakthroughs and scientific advances.

The event, which features a creative musical theme for each topic, is sponsored by the EKTA Foundation. Admission is free but pre-registration is required; visit haib.org/neilupdate. It will be Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson Center.

Visitors can explore HudsonAlpha’s latest discoveries and updates, all set to a musical mix spanning the decades. Discover how HudsonAlpha’s mission is improving lives in the community and beyond.

This event is part of HudsonAlpha’s 2025 event series, a variety of public activities and events throughout the year to raise public literacy about genomics and the role DNA plays in everyday lives.
