Ross, Miller in House District 27 GOP runoff

ARAB — Voters in Alabama House District 27 will go to the polls today for a Republican special election runoff.

Arab City Councilman Alan Miller and former Alabama Secretary of Early Childhood Education Jeana Ross are vying for the seat that was vacated when former Rep. Wes Kitchens won Alabama’s Senate District 9 seat in January.

Ross received 1,404 votes for 39.23% for the top spot in the April 2 primary special election. Miller collected 737 votes (20.59%) to finish second.

There is no Democratic candidate in the race, meaning that today’s winner will automatically be elected to the office.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The district encompasses most of Marshall County, including Arab, Guntersville, Union Grove and Grant.
