CHATTANOOGA — A Russellville cattle farmer who teaches high school agriscience has earned accolades during the recent Alabama Farmers Federation Farm & Land Conference, ALFA announced.

Caleb Beason of Franklin County was named first runner-up in the Alabama Farmers Federation Excellence in Agriculture contest. He was recognized during the Federation Farm & Land Conference in Chattanooga.

Beason is an agriscience teacher at Phil Campbell High School and operates Star B Cattle in Russellville with his wife Emily, a veterinarian; and his children, Everett and Eliza.

The Excellence in Agriculture contest is for members who are 18 to 35 years old and receive most of their income off farms.

Beason was judged based on an intense application and presentation. As the first runner-up, he received custom Adirondack chairs courtesy of the Alabama Farmers Federation.
