Several N. Alabama school systems closed Monday

FLORENCE — The sun may have shined brightly Sunday and the temperature was above 32 degrees, but that didn’t melt all of the ice around the Tennessee Valley.

As a result, several school systems have cancelled classes for Monday or have announced their classes will be virtual.

Ice on roads, as much as an inch thick, remains in shaded areas across North Alabama from last week’s weather event.

In alphabetical order, the following school systems are closed Monday:

Athens City School System: E-learning
Colbert County School System: Closed
Decatur City Schools: 2-hour delay.
Decatur Middle School: Remote learning.
Florence City School System: Closed
Franklin County School System: Closed
Hartselle City School System: Closed
Huntsville City School System: Closed
Jackson County School System: Closed
Lauderdale County School System: Closed
Lawrence County School System: Closed
Limestone County School System: Closed
Madison City School System: Closed
Madison County School System: Closed
Marshall County School System: Closed
Morgan County School System: Closed
Muscle Shoals City School System: Closed
Russellville City School System: Closed
Scottsboro City School System: 2-hour delay.
Sheffield City School System: Closed
Tuscumbia City School System: Closed
