Sheffield police chief announces retirement

SHEFFIELD — After a nearly 30-year law enforcement career, Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry said Tuesday he was retiring, effective Dec. 27.

Terry has served as chief for 6 1/2 years.

“I have been blessed to work with some of the most amazing men and women in law enforcement,” Terry said. “I know they will carry on the honor, tradition and pride of the department.

“I honestly don’t know what it will be like not to wear a badge for the city of Sheffield but that will be a part of this new journey that I will soon be on.”
