HUNTSVILLE — Residents will be pleased to know Huntsville is planning 15 projects throughout the city to construct 3.2 miles of additional sidewalks.

The city’s 2025 Fiscal Year budget increases funding by 12.5% for sidewalk construction.

“Providing more money for sidewalk construction is something has announced we’re excited to include in this budget,” Mayor Tommy Battle said. “Sidewalks bond our neighborhoods and communities, and to build 15 new sidewalks further promotes Huntsville as a desirable place to live and raise a family.”

City staff is in the process of finalizing the list of sidewalks to be included with this year’s budget.

Evaluations for each project consists of reviewing existing site conditions, utility conflicts, right-of-way constraints, and cost estimates. The list of sidewalk projects is expected to be completed this year.
