Space Race 5k set for launch in Huntsville’s Big Spring Park

HUNTSVILLE — The countdown has started for the inaugural launch of a 5k race in the Rocket City’s Big Spring International Park.

The Space Race, set for Sept. 12, will pit Huntsville-based businesses against one another in a lighthearted competition, featuring a celebratory happy hour at the race’s conclusion, according to its organizers.

The event will also have an entertainment hub, food trucks, and multiple beer tents.

All registration is online; there will be no walk-up, race-day, or paper registrations. Entries are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be deferred to another year.

Registration fees are not refundable in the event of a race cancellation due to weather or conditions beyond the control of the race director. Registration before Aug. 11 is $40; after that, $45. To register, click here.

The race will begin at 7 p.m. with the course starting and finishing at the Biz Hubble on the east side of Big Spring International Park. The BizHubble is an entertainment hub designed to allow companies to congregate and connect with their coworkers and peers away from the office and out from behind a screen.

The BizHubble will feature live music, cornhole, family friendly activities, an emcee and programming to ensure that all systems are a go before the race.
