Storms in forecast force cancellation of Huntsville St. Patrick’s Day Parade

HUNTSVILLE — With stormy and possible severe weather in the forecast the weekend, organizers have canceled the Huntsville St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

It is the first time in 48 years the parade was canceled due to weather.

In a Facebook post, the organizers said, after communicating with meteorologists and considering other factors, “We believe the risk is too high and the safety of our participants and spectators is of utmost importance.”

Organizers also said the annual event could not be rescheduled to Sunday because “there are not enough resources and officers available to support a parade on Sunday.”
