HUNTSVILLE — There is an opportunity for Alabama A&M students to step up to the plate in their post-grad careers with Major League Baseball.

And the chance is in the off-the-field side of the sport.

Officials with the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals will visit Alabama A&M to share their expertise, pathways, and opportunities available in the industry Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the AAMU Student Health & Wellness Center.

MLB is looking for students from all majors who are interested in learning more about careers in the sports industry to attend. Students will have a chance to meet franchise professionals and executives. Doors open at 11 a.m. with lunch provided.

A presentation and panel discussion is scheduled for noon. After that, students will have a chance to connect directly with baseball professionals in a Q&A and networking mixer.

This event is sponsored by MLB at Rickwood Field, a celebration of the oldest professional ballpark in the United States and former home of the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues.

The Cardinals will play the Giants at the historic ballpark June 20 as a tribute to the Negro Leagues and its greatest living player, Birmingham native, Willie Mays.
