TUSCUMBIA – Tornado season in the Shoals has been busy, with at least six confirmed tornadoes in Colbert and Lauderdale counties since the first one in Tuscumbia on Feb. 15.
The National Weather Service confirmed the touchdown of three EF-1 tornadoes across the area Saturday night in Sheffield, Tuscumbia, and Aqua Vista near Killen. 
This is Tuscumbia’s second confirmed tornado, including the Feb. 15 storm that caused extensive damage to the city’s downtown area.
According to the NWS, the latest tornado injured five people as it unleashed winds of 105 mph and moved 12.45 miles from 10:25 to 10:40 p.m. The storm tracked into Muscle Shoals, uprooting trees and destroying several mobile homes near the intersection of Avalon Avenue and Wilson Dam Road.
The NWS also reported that the Sheffield storm had peak winds of 90 mph and was on the ground for more than 8 miles, from 10:18 to 10:30 p.m. Along Sterling Boulevard in Sheffield, Facebook posts showed that trees were down on several homes as well as the road. 
Additionally, the NWS said the Aqua Vista storm near Killen and Center Star had winds of 95 mph and a path of 12 miles from 10:44 to 10:57 p.m.
Each of Saturday’s three tornadoes was more than two football fields wide. Thousands of residents were left without power across the area following the storms, but most power had been restored by Monday.
