HUNTSVILLE — Keith Trawick, a lifelong Madison County resident and veteran educator, has announced his candidacy for superintendent of Madison County Schools.

Trawick, chief of staff for Superintendent Ken Kubik, brings nearly two decades of experience in public education, including service as assistant principal and principal of Legacy Elementary, supervisor of student services for Madison County Schools, and principal of Monrovia Middle School.

A graduate of Sparkman High School, he holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a master’s in educational leadership from Samford University.

“As someone who was raised here, educated here, and is now raising my own children in Madison County Schools, I am deeply committed to the success of our students, teachers, and families,” said Trawick. “I’m running for superintendent because I believe that great schools are built on trust, strong leadership, and a sense of family.”

According to a news release, Trawick’s campaign is centered around strengthening relationships between schools and the broader community, fostering positive and transparent communication, and keeping the focus on student and family success.

He is committed to supporting teachers, ensuring safe and high-performing schools, and encouraging active engagement from parents and community members.

Known for his student-focused, data-driven, and transformational leadership style, Trawick said every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential and that educators must be empowered to help them get there.

“Strengthening trust and connections across our school system will be essential to moving Madison County Schools forward,” said Trawick. “I’m ready to listen, to lead, and to serve.”

Trawick and his wife, also a Madison County Schools graduate, have two sons attending Sparkman schools. He is committed to ensuring the district remains a place where all students thrive, teachers feel supported, and families stay engaged.
