HUNTSVILLE — Seeking to voice their opinions about the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Integrated Resource Plan, nearly 50 people attended the agency’s open house Tuesday.

The event, at Calhoun Community College’s Huntsville campus, was to ensure that resident’s voices are heard as TVA continues to plan power-generation resources for the area.

“The open house process began in mid-2023 that included public meetings. The draft IRP was released in September for review and public comments,” said Scott Brooks, a spokesperson for TVA. “That also kicked off a series of public meetings, both in person and virtually.”

Brooks stressed that public input is vital for the TVA.

 “That’s the purpose of the meetings and all the outreach we are doing.  We want people to come see us, visit the website, and give us feedback on the IRP and the draft environmental impact statement. We will take the comments we receive and use them to shape the final documents.”
