UNA’s Allen and Gregg win UAC Player of the Week awards

FLORENCE – On the heels of the Lions’ win over Eastern Kentucky last Saturday, a pair of University of North Alabama players were recognized by the United Athletic Conference.

Running back Jayvian Allen was named UAC Offensive Player of the Week and receiver Noah Gregg was UAC Freshman of the Week.

Both players are first time weekly award winners from the UAC.

Allen, a redshirt senior, had 13 carries for 98 yards and three touchdowns. The three touchdowns are a career high for Allen. He also becomes the first UNA player to rush for three touchdowns since ShunDerrick Powell rushed for three against EKU in 2022.

Gregg, a redshirt freshman from Brooks High School, continued his first full rookie season with three catches for 28 yards and a touchdown against the Colonels. The touchdown came with 20 seconds to go in the half and was ultimately the go-ahead touchdown. Gregg has caught a touchdown pass in four of the last five games.

UNA has won the most UAC Freshman of the Week awards since the league’s first season in 2023 with nine.UNA’s awards went to Jalen Fletcher and Josh Anglin with three apiece, as well as Gregg, Jyheam Ingram and Fred Vili with one.

This marks the third weekly award for UNA this season. Redshirt junior kicker Ian Vachon was named the UAC Specialist of the Week in week three of the season.

UNA (2-5 overall, 1-2 UAC) returns to action Saturday at Austin Peay (4-3, 2-2) in a UAC clash. Kickoff is 3 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.
